Doing this without sounding like a Harrier jump jet taking off.ġ0. Boring other stuff that is vital - like ensuring no tearing, no repeated/dropped frames etc.Ĩ. are rendered cleanly and without reducing video quality.ħ. Ensuring that overlays - whether they are separate on-screen displays, subtitles etc. Ensuring the output refresh rate is correct for the media you are playing, relatively easy for 50Hz stuff but very tricky for some 23.976Hz and 59.94Hz content.Ħ.

De-interlacing non-progressive content (and detecting progressive content carried in an interlaced stream) and implementing a high quality de-interlace.ĥ. Scaling non-native resolution content - which can vary hugely in quality.Ĥ. Decoding H264 and MPEG2 video at a high quality, avoiding some of the issues with 4:2:0->4:2:2 or 4:4:4 conversion (chroma upsampling bugs) - and in some cases using maths at a higher bit depth to reduce rounding errors (which can induce noise and banding in some situations)ģ. Splitting audio and video out from various containers in the best way possible, and in the case of audio either bitstreaming or decoding.Ģ. I think there are a couple of issues here that people are trying to fix :ġ. you mentioned something about reclock earlier but i not to sure how or what that is as ive never used it?

Next question if i create an mkv with LPCM wav file as the audio is there anyway i can get this to show up as multi channel on my av amp without setting windows to 5.1 speakers ? The reason i dont like to do this is because it seems to convert everything on tv to DD 5.1 and my blue amp light come on and i dont want that for stereo stuff. In 7MC i cant even open an avi with either dts or ac3 which is strange so i might have something broken somewhere but it used to work. MPC-HC everything seems to work fine strangley, do i need to discable any of internal decoderes in MPC-HC or does setting external ones as preffered work just fine? In windows i can not get an aci to work i see video but no audio even though graphstudiio tells me its using lav i get picture and no sound. In windows mkv's work fine bitstreaming HD audio is working etc via media player Right uninstalled ffdshow installed Lav splitter and audio decoder anded them as prefered external decoders in MPC-HC. I occasionally have to remux to add subtitles and this might generate and MKV with MPEG2 video and embedded text subtitles - but I usually end up playing these with my Popcorn Hour. replay is of little interest - I'm really just a DVD, Blu-ray and TV viewer - and don't re-encode anything when I rip from disc to hard drive.

rendered by the PC and overlaid) subtitles - both DVD and Blu-ray, and in some cases with MKV files with text subtitle streams? Does this new proposed solution do a better job of re-scaling, and how do I achieve it within 7MC (still by far the best front-end for HTPC use for my requirements with DVB Logic's tuner virtualisation system)ģ. It's OK, but the standard scaling I get appears to treat the 720x576 source samples as blocky-pixels on scaling, rather than doing a nice re-sample based on the source being gaussian samples rather than pixels.

Does this allow higher quality scaling? Whilst I'm generally pretty satisfied with my HTPC set-up using DXVA (and no filters) for 7MC HDTV (1080i in the UK, 720p in Scandinavia) viewing, and for Blu-ray (with bitstreamed HD audio over HDMI), the upscaling quality of DVD and SDTV (576i) is less perfect. If we're effectively bypassing DXVA and using CUDA "software on the GPU" techniques - where is the de-interlacing carried out, and what options are there for motion adaptive, motion compensative, vector adaptive, and what GPU is required for the highest quality de-interlacing.Ģ.

stuff with motion between fields within each frame, rather than stuff shot natively 25p and carried interlaced, where there is no motion between fields within each frame). What bits of these equations handle de-interlacing from 1080i or 576i native interlaced content (i.e. Quick questions to all the combined brains here.ġ.
